Council of Better Business Bureaus Presents Goodmans with International Ethics Award

Selected for exhibiting outstanding ethical practices, the Council of Better Business Bureaus presented Goodmans Interior Structures with its 2014 BBB International Torch Award for Ethics.

Goodmans celebrated its honor at a June 24 special luncheon ceremony during the first annual BBB Self-Regulation Conference at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.

"This year's winners have set an example for businesses of all sizes to follow. We applaud their unique contributions to upholding a fair and honest marketplace," said Mary Power, President and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc. (CBBB).

CBBB selected Goodmans because of its best practices in leadership character and organizational ethics. Candidates for the award must be winners of their local Torch Award for Ethics, an award that the Better Business Bureau of Central, Northern and Western Arizona presented to Goodmans in 2013.

"When you are constantly talking about a customer's lifetime furniture experiences, then sound ethical practices are the natural consequence. Judges noted that as a company in business for six decades, Goodmans' culture of ethical practices is evident in their business model that has evolved over the years.

Other Arizona winners include: Guido's Auto Service Centers Inc. of Phoenix and Convertabath Inc. of Tempe.
In a separate 2011 award from a different organization called B Lab, Goodmans' ethical conduct, combined with sustainability initiatives and community outreach programs, earned the company a certification as the first Benefit Corporation (B Corp) in the North American office furniture industry. Certified Benefit Corporations are required to consider the potential impact of their decisions on their stakeholders – including employees, suppliers and consumers – as well as the broader community and the environment.

In addition, Goodmans is a ten-time winner of the Phoenix Business Journal's Best Places to Work Phoenix contest.
